Bill Crosby offers up an album of children’s music called Boomerang Orangutan that will delight the adults as well as the kiddies. The album is pure pop goodness, with lyrics that are funny and melodies that are catching.
Bill plays in many different styles and the lyrics are about different subjects, but they all share one thing—a very polished performance. Bill isn’t really singing just for kids—he’s singing for everyone who will listen. Songs like “Chocolate Everywhere” have an almost top 40ish sound, with great guitar riffs. hey, check out the mp3-player (at right) for a new track called, “no sponges.” i’m huge fan of steven wright’s bizarre, brilliant comedy. i was watching a clip on youtube and he said “sponges grow in the ocean, that kills me…i wonder how much deeper the ocean would be if that didn’t happen.” it inspired a moment of musical silliness. this song features barry green on trombone, dave frances on bass and andrea flowers on harmony vocal. the last verse is autobiographically funny to me, because, i lived at home for many years after graduating college…yes, i was a sponge!

The songs are all lively and humorous, plus there’s a good variety in terms of styles and grooves. The mixes sound very good too, BTW. Most importantly, I think it will actually appeal to children . An antelope who wants to get married, a manatee inventor and a llama who wants to act can only mean one thing: a new kid’s CD from me! I don’t know EXACTLY when it’ll be done but i can tell you this: it’s going to be FUN!
The usual cast of characters have recorded so far: Emmett Ientilucci (drums), Mark Horn (gtr), David Earl, Mitch Reily (sax), Jeff Rogers (gtr), Mark Easterling (gtr), Steve Holland (percussion), Francie Smith and Rae Hering on background vocals.
Filling in for Mike Bush on bass is the Philly man, Bobby King. It’s been a lot of work so far, and scheduling has not been easy, but soon, we shall unleash this music to the world!
This project has been co-produced with Rob Tew, keyboardist, guitarist, and audio engineer maniac. A man who wears many hats but is always in style (I just made that up, I think).
If you’ve seen my “pet snail” video you know my lady friend, Denice. she has been inspirational (and my family has been, as well) and because of her help, I was able to get Grammy nominated blues guitarist, Dave Perkins, and trombonist, Barry Green (from Larry Carlton’s band), to add their talents to my songs. Good people make me sound good!
Marin Miller also added her unique talent to a song that wasn’t even a duet until I heard her sing. I am psyched for everybody to hear this new music!
It’s that time of the year: too much to do and not enough hours to do it. I finally got a Christmas song and video together. With the help of many, and the most fun for me! You can download “Santa on the radio” at CDBaby and the video is now on YouTube.
