another review :)

Written by Dylan Gallagher

Jovial, fun, and all around good rock and roll, Bill Crosby has formed in the Nashville, TN scene with some great work under his belt. He has three albums’ worth of music, and though the songs may seem kid related, they all display the unique and colorful imagination of a talented artist. The albums are titled “Boomerang Orangutan,” “The Peanut Butter Fish,” and “I Have A Pet Snail.” Not only are Bill Crosby’s songs good, but they are also humorous. With song titles like “Jamaican Bacon,” “No Sponges,” and “Dust Bunny,” it is clear that Bill Crosby is having fun with his music.

The song “Big Pig” is pretty literal, as Crosby sings about a big pig. His acoustic guitar is very well played and has great melodies throughout the different songs on his albums. The lyrics in “No Sponges” talk about how messy our kitchens would be without sponges. “No Sponges” also uses a cool sounding horn bit, as well, that really makes it stand out even more from his other absurd, yet entertaining songs. Bill Crosby uses a great range of instruments in his songs, but all of them are headed by Crosby’s folky acoustic guitar. The song ‘Pet Snail’ makes for good fun, as well. If you don’t like Bill Crosby’s music, your kids certainly will.

Bill Crosby clearly has a distinct and interesting set of songs, but, they are all worth listening to, if not for your love of music, then, at least, for pure entertainment value. If you’re interested, check him out at his website and download his music : http://www.billcrosbymusic.com/

“Boomerang Orangutan” Review by Andrea Guy

Bill Crosby offers up an album of children’s music called Boomerang Orangutan that will delight the adults as well as the kiddies. The album is pure pop goodness, with lyrics that are funny and melodies that are catching.

Bill plays in many different styles and the lyrics are about different subjects, but they all share one thing—a very polished performance. Bill isn’t really singing just for kids—he’s singing for everyone who will listen. Songs like “Chocolate Everywhere” have an almost top 40ish sound, with great guitar riffs. The lyrics are silly but they aren’t childish, which means parents won’t be embarrassed if the CD is left in their car when they are traveling with the kids.

Boomerang Orangutan CD Cover

Here’s a cool review of “Boomerang Orangutan” from bassist Bobby King:

“I got the CD in the mail today (thanks!) and listened to it on the way to a gig. It sounds great, excellent job! The songs are all lively and humorous, plus there’s a good variety in terms of styles and grooves. The mixes sound very good too, BTW. Most importantly, I think it will actually appeal to children :) . I’ve played on other children’s projects where I thought it was either too adult, or too patronizing to the kids. Your CD has enough interesting and clever things going on to hold kid’s interest, it doesn’t talk down to them, but isn’t over their heads either. Again, great job and good luck with it!” ——Bobby
